Well, I think I’ve spent my whole life dreaming in worlds made of memories, images and symbols. Besides that I think in pictures. And more than anything, I love turning them into things that other people can step into for a little while too.

I used to do the same with Applepiepieces, my former jewellery label. Many of the pieces didn’t just have a name, but a little world of their own: Home Sweet Home, Happy Tears, Memory Keepers, Cloud Nine. The Magical Fungus series I later painted for Atelier Naber was also filled with symbolism, colour and, above all, a lot of fun.

And really, that never went away.

A place to return to for a moment

That’s also how the artwork for Arcana Lane came to life. From the worlds in my head. Little safe places that remind you of something when life feels a bit too messy. That eventually, it will be 11 o’clock again. In other words: everything is a phase. Even when you’re right in the middle of it and it doesn’t feel that way at all. That you don’t have to figure everything out today and that you’re allowed to trust what’s coming.

Positive, yes. Because there’s often enough negativity in the world already.

That’s why the same elements often find their way into my work. Mountains, the sea, stars, little houses and vintage imagery. Things that represent something bigger to me: coming home, trust, change, direction, freedom. I combine them with words I’d like to come across myself at exactly the moment I need them.

• Good things are coming your way.
• The tide is turning.
• You are exactly where you need to be.

Not as empty, overused phrases promising that everything will magically work itself out. More like little reminders. A different thought.

From tarot reading to art on your wall

That’s also why the art prints feel so at home alongside the tarot readings at Arcana Lane.

A reading can show you something you hadn’t seen yourself yet. A pattern, a different direction, or sometimes just one sentence that stays with you long after you’ve read the rest of the reading. Those are the sentences I find especially interesting. Because what happens when a thought like that doesn’t disappear into a PDF on your phone, but gets a place in your home?

When you see it every morning as you walk past. When it hangs above your desk. Or next to your bed. Not to tell you how to live your life, but to remind you, every now and then, of something you don’t want to forget.

That’s why, alongside the permanent collection, I also created the Secret Reading Art Print: a personal print featuring words from your own Arcana Lane reading. It can only be discovered and ordered through a tarot reading. Something that surfaced during your reading then becomes a tangible reminder you can keep.

 
 

Worlds made from carefully collected images

Every Arcana Lane art print begins with a world in my head and the collection of special images I’ve gathered over the years as a graphic designer.

Old photographs and illustrations, fragments of landscapes, stars, animals, seas, mountains, textures and other finds that, for one reason or another, catch my eye and stay with me. From these, I build a new world, layer by layer.

I move things around, cut, combine, remove and add again until separate images begin to tell something new together. Mixed media collage the way I love it most: colourful, a little strange, sometimes nostalgic, and with enough space for you to find your own meaning in it.

Good to know: the artworks are created by me, not by AI.

Not because I believe technology has no place in our world, but because collecting, combining and making - creation - is the most important part of the work for me. The images have a history. Some stay with me for years before eventually finding the place where they belong.

Something to keep close

Maybe that’s the thread running through everything I make: I don’t want to make things that are simply beautiful.

I want to make things that make you feel something. Things your eye keeps returning to. Something you can give as a gift because one particular sentence feels exactly right for someone. Or something you choose for yourself because, right now, those are the words you might need to see.

A little piece of another world on your wall. To remind you that things can always change again.
